Light-Weight Design by Function Integration

Preface
Globalization, scarcity of ressources and climate change raise new questions in production engineering. One promising approach is to reduce component weight by use of light-weight design. The integration of sensors and actuators made of "smart materials" into light-weight composites enables to reach both ultra-light-weight design and superior dynamic properties as well as structural health monitoring.
The wide-scale application of this innovative technology requires high-volume compatible production technologies. Researching and developing the necessary scientific foundations is the goal of the CRC/TR 39 "High-volume compatible production technologies for light-metal and fiber-composite based components with integrated sensors and actuators" (PT-PIESA). The primary concern is an integral design of the process chain, which brings together the so far separated technological development and production of sensors, actuators, structural components, and manufacturing technology. By merging the structural component and sensor-actuator manufacturing lines, an efficient manufacturing technology for complex shaped active components is achieved.
The 5th Scientific Symposium of the CRC/TR 39 is an open forum for the discussion of experts from the PT-PIESA projects with scientists from other institutions as well as experts from industry. We coordially invite you to come to Dresden and join our symposium on 14-16 September 2015.
Further, we would like to invite you to the International Symposium on Piezocomposite Applications (ISPA 2015) which takes place on 17-18 September 2015, right after the PT-PIESA Symposium in Dresden. The events are linked by the Fraunhofer Industry Day "Smart Materials", which takes place on 16 September at the Fraunhofer IKTS in Dresden.

Registration and registration fees
The registration is open until 7 September 2015. The registration fee is 200 € (early bird special until 17 August 2015 140 €) and includes admission of the conference, proceedings volume, snacks and drinks as well as participation on the evening event. You will receive an invoice after registration. The registration is completed after full payment of the invoice.
Cancellation is possible until 7 September 2015. Substitution of participants is possible at any time.
